Hydrodynamic performance of solid and porous heave plates
This paper reports a novel experimental study on the hydrodynamic characteristics (added mass and damping) of oscillatory solid or porous disks since such heave plates have been widely utilised in floating offshore structures. The data and results provided benchmarks for future experimental and numerical studies by a number of groups (e.g., Li et al, Dalian University of Technology dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.oceaneng.2013.04.012; An & Faltinsen, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jfluidstructs.2013.03.004), as well as for direct applications in engineering design (contact: Dr Yusong Cao, Research and Technical Manager, MARUNTEC-USA Inc., Email: Yusong.Cao@marineteckusa.com).
