Additional information

This is the first paper to model the behaviour of a thermoplastic matrix composite material under load in fire. It was found that this thermoplastic matrix composite showed only a small reduction in failure time in fire, compared to conventional thermosetting matrix composites. Modelling of the fire response required a combined thermal and material modelling approach to be developed which successfully predicted the time to failure under different loads.
