Additional information

This paper presents experimental research on biodiesel blends used as fuel for indirect injection and direct injection combustion system, and, uniquely at the time, reported the effect of biodiesel blends on both ICS and DCS engines. The research showed that indirect injection can be used with biodiesel blends to significantly reduce NOx, CO, HC and smoke emissions, without modification. The research was carried out as part of the EPSRC project BMT-CES: Biofuel Micro-Trigeneration with Cryogenic Energy Storage, EP/F061978/1 and subsequent ongoing collaboration with Guangxi University (Prof. Jin Cheng Huang hujch@126.com).
