Additional information

This research presented in this paper, carried out in collaboration with Penn-State University in the US, demonstrated for the first time that microalgae could be used as a substrate for bioelectricity production, and also developed a rigorous methodology to determine power output in microbial fuel cells. Power output determination is a standard technique which is necessary for any microbial fuel cell evaluation, and the developed methodology allows valid worldwide comparisons of microbial fuel cell power output.
