Additional information

The first complete study of the stability of a common class of Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) reactor flows is presented. Flow stability in reactors has significant consequences for the quality of manufactured items, but previous studies have focused entirely on the implications of modified steady flows to deposition growth rates. The paper enables a greater emphasis on flow stability in the design stage of CVD reactors and led to the recent award of an internal Innovation Fellowship to Garrett to explore the commercialisation of the model.
