Additional information

The first application in acoustics of Ramm's theory of wave scattering by many bodies previously applied to electromagnetics is presented. This new theory gives a rigorous mathematical base for developing a new class of acoustic liners using a radically different approach than porous media. The resulting new sound-directive panels have a significant potential for changing the state of art in the automotive industry, with lighter panels leading to lighter vehicles emitting less CO2. New manufacturing processes with nanoparticles driven by this development are currently being explored with Volker Spessart, Development Engineering, Recticel International, Belgium, Spessart.Volker@recticel.com.
