The glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor is a major determinant of prion binding and replication.

This paper forms part of the outputs of a PhD that was awarded by The Open University, UK, and for which I was one of the (two) academic supervisors. I met with the PhD student (Claudia Manzoni) on a regular and frequent basis to discuss the project, ensure appropriate hypotheses were formulated, discuss and decide what techniques/experiments would be used to address the hypotheses, and then interpret the results - and plan the next steps forward. I supported the student will all aspects of preparing the PhD thesis and papers emanating from it (including this one).
