This paper provides unique empirical evidence about directly modulated microring laser array. This has the potential of building large scale, high density photonic circuits reducing both cost and power consumption. The work described in this paper was the culmination of FP7-funded multidisciplinary projects (‘WAPITI’ & ‘BONE’), and EPSRC aimed to build future optical network device using vertical integration technology.
