Efficient parallel computing with a compact finite difference scheme
Significance of output:
The recent growth of supercomputing capabilities has led to massively parallel calculations in the vast majority of scientific computing tasks. Despite being able to offer a very high level of accuracy and resolution, compact finite-difference schemes have become less popular than others due to uncertainty and inefficiency in solving their banded matrix systems using a parallel computer. This paper proposes an advanced method to solve these problems. The paper was one of the Top 25 Hottest Articles in Computers & Fluids during January to March 2012 (http://top25.sciencedirect.com/subject/engineering/12/journal/computers-fluids/00457930/archive/38/).
