Additional information

This special issue paper reports new analysis of stability issues associated with negative impedance converters (NIC) leading to the first known practical demonstration of a working NIC circuit in the GHz frequency range. It is also the first paper to present practical measurements of the noise and distortion generated by such circuits, demonstrating the potential for their use in receivers. The work has led to industrial funding from Selex, to a new patent application for an NIC with even higher frequency operation and lower cost fabrication, and to a Young Engineer prize at European Microwave Conference 2012 for the first author.
