Significance of output:

This work presents a general method for the high order expansion of two-point point boundary value problems. Subsequent research activity proved the potentials of the method when applied to the solution of robust optimal control problems formulated with variational approach. This was instrumental for awarding the ESA Ariadna contact Trajectory Optimization under Uncertainties (25 k€, technical officer Dr. Dario Izzo, dario.izzo@esa.int). A scientific collaboration has been defined with Dr. Roberto Furfaro (Assistant Professor, Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering, University of Arizona, robertof@orex.lpl.arizona.edu) for the application of the methodology to the guidance of landing trajectories.
