Significance of output:

This cross-disciplinary research was co-funded by the AHRC and applies advanced strain sensing approaches to an important heritage application (historical tapestries). The approach has been applied to in-situ tests of hanging historical tapestries, and has revealed the importance of humidity and temperature in determining the strain cycling experienced by the textile. This work has been promoted as a recent local public outreach display at Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium.
