Significance of output:

• First full-scale UK food waste digester, built for Government's New Technologies demonstrator programme based on our previous pilot studies1, 2

• Demonstration has led to AD being the preferred technology for food waste treatment3 with more than 30 plants now operating in UK4

• First comprehensive mass-and-energy balance for this type of system, showing favourable 8-to-1 ratio of energy output to input

• Invited to write up as an IEA success story5
