Additional information

Reports the creation of a superhydrophobic surface on the inside of a narrow bore tube, demonstrating apparent slip and that drag can be reduced. Part of the work delivered on EPSRC grant EP/D500826/1. This led to an invitation to work with UK Sport and Royal Yachting Association on an EPSRC Olympics initiative project (EP/E043097/1) and to a follow-on project with Southampton University (EP/G057265/1). Led to invitation to write a highlight article for the leading journal "Soft Matter" ("Immersed superhydrophobic surfaces: Gas exchange, slip and drag reduction properties", vol 6, 714-719, 2010; top-10 down-loaded Feb 2010).
