This is a special issue of the journal Modernist Cultures, drawing essays largely from the inaugural conference of the British Association of Modernist Studies and the Scottish Network of Modernist Studies (SNOMS). The issue was guest co-edited by Alex Thomson (chair of SNOMS) and Matthew Creasy who jointly conceived the project, selected the contributions and were responsible for managing the content. The introduction was jointly written by the co-editors, and Alex Thomson contributed the sole-authored essay ‘The Asymmetry of British Modernism: Hugh MacDiarmid and Wyndham Lewis’.
