Additional information

<09>Pairing is a significant aspect of agile working, underpinning communication and collective ownership. Critics assume that it involves paying two people to do one person's work but many disagree (see http://namcookanalytics.com/high-costs-and-negative-value-of-pair-programming/). Studies of industrial pairing are rare, yet understanding pairing is critical in order to use the practice well and deploy staff effectively. This paper provides rigorous, empirical evidence about pair interactions to support the goal of effective deployment.
