Additional information

<22>This is the definitive paper on the NECA approach to generation of dialogues between Embodied Conversational Agents. The NECA approach, epitomised by the RRL representation language, has influenced projects (e.g. EPOCH, Echavarria et al., 2005 and the Edinburgh/Stanford Crags project, Isard et al., 2003) and languages (PML, Gobel et al., 2004; BML, Kopp et al., 2006; CharanisML, Weiss et al., 2008; PlayerML, Iurgel, 2008). In 2010, Piwek joined a task force defining the next generation of character mark-up languages, funded by the world-leading Institute for Creative Technologies (http://ict.usc.edu/about/honors-awards/), a collaboration between USC/Hollywood.
