Approximately 52 pages (about 16% of the text), discuss dictionaries included in the four volumes of my History of Cant and Slang Dictionaries (submitted in this and the last exercise). I sometimes quote parts of the same extracts, but they are re-analysed in the context of this volume, which has a different focus (on the slang itself, rather than the dictionaries) and is written both for a different purpose and a different audience. It also involved considerable additional research. Some arguments are presented in both formats, but not in the same formulations.
