Additional information

This paper draws together the results of two complementary PhD projects that Professor Tracy Bhamra supervised in the area of Design for Sustainable Behaviour. The paper presents the results of investigations that explored the ways in which design outputs could be used to change consumer behaviour towards more sustainable actions for everyday tasks. It presents a range of approaches to facilitate Design for Sustainable Behaviour developed as a result of this real-world research with consumers in two distinct contexts. The research that formed the basis for this journal paper led to collaboration on the EPSRC and Eon funded £2.1m research project “Carbon Control and Comfort: User-Centred control systems for comfort, carbon saving and energy management” which was awarded in 2008. The journal operates a double blind peer review process.
