Additional information

This paper demonstrated the feasibility of the C-GEN direct-drive generator technology in wave and tidal energy, replacing conventional transmissions. Optimised generator designs were produced for two full-scale industrial prototypes, Aquamarine Oyster (Paddy Okane) and ScotRenewables SRTT (Mark Hamilton).

The IP is covered by granted patents, US (US8040011; US8339009), Australia (AU2007226376), and China (CN101405931). The work was funded by EPSRC (EP/E040136/1), npower Juice, Scottish Enterprise and the Carbon Trust (Marine Energy Accelerator). (Industrial contact emails available).
