Additional information

<12>The paper's significance is its discovery of two new representations for permutations. This is important because permutations form the core of combinatorics and some properties of permutations are more transparently seen using our new representations. E.g. Eriksen and Sjöstrand (2012) computed the full distribution of a particular pattern while proving a conjecture within this paper - knowing the full distribution of any pattern is rare. Work building on ours includes Levande (2010); Yan (2010); Claesson, Dukes & Kubitzke (2011); Tiefenbruck & Remmel (2012).
