Additional information

This paper reports an original and effective numerical treatment for the common, unphysical, wall heating problem which can occur in Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) multimaterial hydrocodes. The solution exploits unique properties of a novel fully conservative multidimensional positive definite remapping. Multimaterial ALE models are among core technologies used by the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE PLC) who has funded (£69,000) and allocated further funds (£75,000) for this bespoke research. Contact: Andy.Barlow@awe.co.uk. (Head of Computational Physics Group). The first author reported this work during invited talks at AWE and the Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA.
