A nature-inspired approach to reactor and catalysis engineering
This invited “perspective” article appeared in Elsevier’s Current Opinion. Thanks to its immediate response, I became member of the advisory board. The paper outlines the philosophy of nature-inspired chemical engineering, taking a mechanistic basis to guide innovative, computationally assisted, rational design of catalysts and reactors and leads to an entirely new way of thinking about process intensification and design of resource efficient systems. The article led to invited keynotes (ISCRE22 and AIChE, 2012), the RSC Catalysis Science & Technology Award Lecture (2012), and several invited talks in industry and academia. The approach is utilized in the EPSRC Catalysis Hub (co-I).
