This paper was amongst the first to utilize new focused ion beam techniques to characterise SOFC electrodes in 3D and the first to provide detailed experimental information on the techniques for data collection. As a result of this paper I have been invited to participate in an international working group (organised Riso-DTU, Denmark) on SOFC characterisation. It is the most cited paper from the journal Chemical Engineering Science for 2009/10 and was a major contributing factor to further funding in this area in the Supergen Fuel Cells Phase 2.
