A systematic approach for modeling chromatographic processes - Application to protein purification
This paper considers the challenging issue of protein separation from a feed with a large number of components. Process development for such separations is traditionally based on extensive experimentation which is both costly and time consuming. The use of detailed mathematical models has the potential for large savings, provided the models and the associated parameters are accurate. This work presents a systematic method which is applicable to a large number of protein separations for the development of such models. This paper lay the foundations for an extensive investigation into chromatography modelling which includes several industrial partners within the bioprocessing industries.
