Additional information

This research supported by the UK MoD (DESSMCES-DCE@mod.uk) addresses how, hull types, such as multi-hulls, can be considered in initially evolving a design requirement. This research was used directly in justifying a major ($1.5M) research programme funded in 2011 by the US Office of Naval Research (kelly.cooper1@navy.mil), where the second author is in partnership with Professor Singer (University of Michigan) and Professor Hopman, Professor of Ship Design, TU Delft. In this four year project these three, internationally leading, ship design research centres will advance the knowledge and practice of architecturally based ship design, pioneered by the second author (Reference 13).
