Additional information

<29> This paper describes the first research to use advanced audio analysis and machine learning algorithms on music proven to have beneficial effects on pain perception and tolerance. A fully reviewed paper published in JASA, one of the top 3 audio journals internationally. This work involved international collaboration with Laura Mitchell, Bishop’s University, Quebec.

Based on EPSRC funded research led by Don Knox (EP/F00558X/1), the paper sets the agenda for a new technology-based perspective on music used for therapeutic purposes. Its cross-disciplinary impact is reflected by citations in Nursing in Critical Care, and Psychomusiciology: Music, Mind and Brain.
