Additional information

In this paper we have reported a new rapid route for synthesis of novel materials for solid oxide fuel cells that would potentially provide combined power and heat with increased efficiency for our society. This work has led to further research and discovery of new materials with novel properties. In addition, this concept has been extended by leading international researchers in subsequent publications, e.g. Prof. H. Hayashi and Prof. H. Hakuta (Japan), Prof. I. Parkin (UK) and further work by Prof. J.A. Darr (UK).
