Additional information

This EPSRC-funded research (EP/037305/1) developed, proved and applied a novel soil volume change measurement system to study the behaviour of unsaturated lime-treated soils during shearing. This is of great practical relevance due to the increased use of ground improvement techniques by artificial cementation in a variety of situations whose analysis requires the use of complex models. The necessary parameters for the constitutive modelling of these soils (which are unsaturated when compacted) using advanced numerical tools are provided in this paper. Verification: Zeljko Cabarkapa, Geotechnical Consulting Group (z.cabarkapa@gcg.co.uk)
