Additional information

This paper describes work started as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership ( KTP) with Adwel International. Adwel International marketed an instrument (ELCID) for measuring generator stator core faults but required advanced modelling techniques to fully understand the underlying electromagnetics. New 2D and 3D analytical electromagnetic models were developed and validated experimentally. This work directly improved the capability of the instrument in identifying different types of core faults. Adwel's main industrial competitor, Iris Power, bought Adwel in 2007 along with the improved ELCID technology. The KTP received a high external grading.
