Additional information

The technique introduced in this paper was the subject of a patent application (G. M. Treece and K. E. S. Poole, Cortical thickness mapping, WO 2011/042738 published 14th April 2011, App. Num.

PCT/GB2010/051671, filed 6th October 2010, GB App. Num. GB0917524.1, filed 7th October 2009). It has already led to two published clinical discoveries (Dr K.E.S. Poole, rheumatologist, Cambridge, ID_in_audit_file@doctors.org.uk) linking cortical thickness to hip fracture, and linking the effects of a commonly used osteoporosis drug (Teriparatide) to mechanical loading.
