The underpinning research has received extensive coverage causing the paper to be invited by the IEEE. It resulted in a further invited paper at IEEE ISLC2010 (Kyoto) and a tutorial paper at POEM2011 (Wuhan). The expertise built up led to Cambridge being invited to join the EU Femtoblue project (INFSO-ICT-238556 FEMTOBLUE, EUR295k). It also led to a joint project with St Andrews, EPSRC MUSIC project (EP/E064361/1, value of sub-project ~GBP200k), allowing the first remotely controlled ML laser system to be demonstrated. It also formed one of the main planks of the EPSRC COPOSII platform grant (EP/H022384/1, GBP1.2M).
