Brain-computer interface speller using hybrid P300 and motor imagery signals
<01> This paper presents a Brain Computer Interface speller which aims at aiding communication for people with severe motor disability such as locked-in stroke patients and Motor-Neuron Disease sufferers. For such users, system slowness has been a major hurdle to adoption. We demonstrate a two-fold increase in speed when compared to the best systems in the literature. The novel elements include the use of fast motor imagery signals, and incorporation of probabilistic text prediction. This Work has generated interest from the Stroke Association and has led to securing a High Performance Computing Wales Research and Innovation grant with Neuradaptix Ltd.
