<22> This paper is the first to publish an analysis of how humans respond to barge-in interruptions during spoken dialogue. It is also the first to present a software

implementation of the findings of this analysis in an Embodied Conversational Agent enabling it to respond appropriately to barge-in interruptions from the user during spoken dialogue with them.
