Additional information

<23> The paper makes a thorough study of averaging techniques in the Lie Group of 3-dimensional rotations. This work is applicable to problems where the pose or motion of an object is to be computed from several independent estimates, and applies to computing scene geometry from several images. The focus of the paper is on providing rigorous proofs of convergence and identification of focus of attraction in three different rotation averaging problems under different cost measures. It provides the strongest known convergence guarantees for these problems.
