<01> In their Nobel Prize-winning (1963) work, Alan Hodgkin and Andrew Huxley performed experiments on the squid giant axon. The large diameter of the axon provided a great experimental advantage for Hodgkin and Huxley as it allowed them to insert voltage clamp electrodes inside the lumen of the axon. This paper reveals that the Hodgkin–Huxley Axon comprises memristors (invented by Chua in 1971). From this new perspective, this model can explain various anomalous phenomena and paradoxes reported over the past 70 years.
