Additional information

This is the first paper to present a comprehensive integrated experimental study of ageing in iris biometrics to explain the impact and mechanism of ageing factors. The effect of ageing in iris biometrics has hitherto received relatively little attention, but is becoming much more important as early systems themselves age. Physical and template ageing effects are important in understanding how to deploy and manage practical systems long term. This work has stimulated the commissioning of the first ever reference book on this topic, with international authorship and edited by Fairhurst (Age Factors in Biometric Processing, IET, ISBN-13:9781849195027, publication 30/9/2013).
