Physigrams: Modelling Devices for Natural Interaction
<20>This work pioneers a novel framework for representing the behaviour of interactive physical devices by separating the physical device from its digital effects and other external functionality. This is a significant contribution to the understanding of natural interaction, which extends pre-existing work. The formal representation offers a comprehensive approach for unpacking the feedback users receive from their actions and so, is valuable for extracting insights about the nature of physical interaction. Furthermore, through its diagrammatic notation of physigrams, it provides designers with a new method for specifying the physical aspects of devices, thus enabling them to design more effective interaction.
