Additional information

This paper demonstrated a new technique in production and analysis of neo-calcified tissues in tissue engineering approach. The work provided evidence that a change of culture environment could accelerate bone (calcification) formation and alter the neo-bone composition. This work was supported by EU Marie Curie fellowship IEF (PIEF-GA-2009-237762). The outcome of the research has paved a theoretic foundation for a new project in collaboration with an orthopaedic consultant (Dr Sandeep Konduru) funded through the UHNS charitable fund scheme (Prof Tony Fryer, +441782674245).
