A Wound-Field Three-Phase Flux-Switching Synchronous Motor With All Excitation Sources on the Stator
Throughout industry there is a motivation to reduce the cost, complexity, and size of electrical machines without compromising performance. This paper, funded by a Commonwealth Scholarship, presents a unique three-phase flux switching synchronous motor with both field and armature windings placed on the stator. The magnetic geometry is substantially different to that of other flux switching machines and gives significant advantages in terms of torque density and controllability compared to other existing topologies. This paper has received significant attention from both academic and industrial sectors.
