This paper provides the first examination of the development of a novel shallow foundation under vertical loading for offshore deployment. It presents an analytical method developed (i) to allow prediction of the load–settlement response and (ii) to determine the settlement associated with it achieving optimal capacity. The methodology was validated by comparison with model tests. This paper was the result of a Joint Industry Funded Project (JIP) to develop design procedures for offshore deployment of this foundation.
