Grimaldi supervised the conservation treatment, studio and technical examination of the paintings and initially proposed the investigation into the factors causing the deterioration of the paintings in order to find strategies for treatment, as well as providing assistance in the interpretation of analytical results. Dr Brian Singer was responsible for carrying out the scientific analysis on materials removed from the paintings and assisting in the interpretation of those materials. McMillan provided studio and lab assistance.
