Non-axis-symmetrical punching shear around internal columns of RC slabs without transverse reinforcement
The paper presents an innovative theoretical model for punching shear of flat slabs supported on columns with non-symmetrical conditions, commonly found in practice (e.g. floor or bridge deck slabs). This is relevant since such slabs are widely used in construction in the UK and worldwide. The paper provides further insight into the theoretical framework which is the basis of the New Model Code 2010, which will be used in the forthcoming revision of Eurocode 2. This publication received the Magazine of Concrete Research Award for the best paper in 2012 in view of its research significance and impact.
