A comprehensive treatment of bone-cement interfacial behaviour is given in this paper. For the first time microCT was used to provide the damage morphologies and cohesive zone modelling was also carried out to simulate and predict the mixed mode responses. The work has spurred further work in this direction (Waanders et al, 2011, 2012; Miller et al, 2011; Tozzi et al 2012, 2013); and led to a joint proposal to EPSRC with the University of Southampton (Browne).
