Additional information

Grid generation for CFD analysis of twin screw machines pioneered by authors is now widely used by industry. However, this is not suitable for emerging high pressure application topologies such as single screw, variable pitch or variable geometry twin screw rotors. In the papers, several techniques are evaluated to set-up fundamental principles for CFD in novel machines. It shows that commonly used key-frame re-meshing is not suitable for screw compressors due to its inaccuracy. By reflection on fundamental theory, this paper identifies the path for development of a generally suitable grid generation for rotary positive displacement machines.
