Double-weighted statement

This monograph is the first academic book about the Irish in London. It examines over thirty novels, short stories and autobiographies informed by data collection extending over twenty years. As well as bringing new research to bear on the work of established Irish writers it reveals a hitherto unexplored literature, diverse in form and content. By synthesising theories of narrative and diaspora (in particular the work of Paul Ricoeur and Avtar Brah) into a new interdisciplinary approach to the study of migration it sheds fresh light on the ways in which migrant identities are negotiated, mediated and culturally represented.
