Double-weighted statement

This book required analysis of an extensive body of primary texts (4-5 million words in Latin) covering Augustine's writing over 40 years, and a complex set of topics (Trinitarian theology, exegesis, ancient educational theory, Neoplatonic philosophies of ascent and divine simplicity). The relevant secondary literature has itself been the subject of a recent 700 page German monograph (see Kany, Augustins Trinitatsdenken). The book is based on 15 years of research and is the first devoted solely to the topic in English.
