Additional information

This paper presents a major outcome of the £2.2M Carbon Capture project (IGSCC; EP/G062129/1), led by Edinburgh. A new mechanism for controlling adsorption of CO2 on Rho-zeolites was identified using the Zero Length Column (ZLC) technique. It presents a detailed explanation of this new cation "gating" effect which leads to extremely high kinetic selectivities. This novel concept is currently being investigated further with chemists (Prof. Paul Wright, paw2@st-andrews.ac.uk) to explore potential applications for both novel carbon capture and natural gas separations.
