Unsplit Implementation of Higher Order PMLs
This presented the theoretical development of the first generalised formulation to automatically obtain the update coefficients and equations of higher-order Perfectly Matched Layers (PML), used for improving modelling of absorbing boundaries in finite-difference time-domain simulations. This formulation has been introduced into the electromagnetic simulator GPRMAX (www.gprmax.org) that is being used in R&D of ground penetrating radar systems (GPR) (Peter Annan: Sensoft USA, Giovanni Alli: IDS Corporation). This paper together with DoI:10.1109/TAP.2008.928789, generalised and extended a robust PML formulation which has been applied to a number of numerical modelling problems in GPR: Netherlands, DoI:10.1190/1.3480619; China, DoI:10.1016/j.cageo.2012.06.020; UK, DoI:10.1109/ICGPR.2010.5550176).
