Double-weighted statement

This book builds on Vasalou’s long-standing work on the notion of wonder, effecting an ambitious dialogue between Schopenhauer's philosophy and the ancient philosophical tradition. This is achieved through a number of arguments, including discussions connecting Schopenhauer's philosophical method with his aesthetics and the sublime, a fresh discussion of his pessimism, an account linking his thought to ancient philosophical practice, and concern with megalopsychia. While embedded in Vasalou’s overall argument, these discussions could have been published in the form of at least three or four independent articles. Double-weighting is being claimed because of the breadth and depth of this research.
